Retirement age 62 for central government employees-a exclusive review

Retirement age 62 for central government employees a exclusive review

Impact of raising retirement age from age 60 to 62

It has been seen that one of the long time waging demand of raising the retirement age of govt employees has finally caught afire

Through the Medias and blogging sites re abound with news that the cabinet would announce news regarding the retirement age yet it has not been finalizes

Even then it has been come to known that a favorable decision would be put forth regarding this issue due to the oncoming lok sabha and three state assembly elections.

In India the retirement ages of most of the state government employees range from 58 to 60. This is low in comparison to the government employees of foreign nation.

We shall see the effect of raising the retirement age in the following passage

Advantage

1. If only 7th pay commission would be implemented in the year 2016 those retiring in the year span 2014 -2016 would be greatly benefitted.

2. Economically the employees would be in better position due to this rise of the age of superannuation

3. The pension amount and the other beneficiaries would also increase along side

4. There this chance of imparting fruitful experience to the subordinates or new recruit by those benefitted by rise in retirement age

5. More over there is chance of getting an additional MACP by the central govt employees

6. A good health psychological effect would prevail in their minds due to this boon of rising their retirement age and thus removing their fatigue

Disadvantage

1. Promotion would be greatly affected due to no retirement in the long span

2. Unemployment would come in to being due to the increase in retirement age

3. Output of work would be greatly affected if the retirement age of unhealthy employees would be increased.

This announcement would not be received in praise among those searching for employment in general

Moreover among the retirement employees this decision is receiving a mixed response as some welcome while others detest it

Comments

  1. Central government employees retirement age enhanced to 62 from 60 years.

If the announcement comes this month (June 2013), it will benefit maximum employees. The official date of birth for many employees is 1st July, though their actual DOB is different. This was done to avoid one academic year loss at entry to 1st standard of school admission.

When DOB is 01-07, they retire on 30-06, and if DOB is 2nd July, they retire in July. Losing one increment due in July, even after working for 365 days by superannuating in June is a sad thing. Justice can be done to some extent, if the 62 years order comes this month for those retiring in June.

I also feel, retirement can be made uniformly in July, irrespective of the month born and age can be 62. For example born any time in 1954, retirement can be July 2016 and born during June to December 1953, retirement can be July 2015 etc.

Nothing can be done probably for those who retired on or before 31-05-2013.

  2. it is a bad decision to take as it will increase the unemployment which is agreat setback for young generation and in turn for india

  3. PRADIP KUMAR MUKHOPADHYAY says:

I have been hearing the news but I don’t support it because the country is already burdened with severe unemployment. By raising the retirement age, I feel, the unemployed ones will be deprived. Further, I don’t think the people will be more energetic with the enhancement of retirement age in regard to official work. Besides, the fresh blood should pour into the Govt. services and this may be regarded as my personal feeling. Someone my have the right to feel otherwise.

  4. RADHAKRISHNA TN says:

This is not a welcom decision to increase the retirement age to 62. Younger generation to be given chance to serve and whrever required, guidence may be taken from retired employees, who may be appointed as consultants for a short and fixed period on consolidated pay.

  5. what about those who retired on 31st may 2013.make some rule for them also.

  6. i think its good decision ,i realy heartly welcme it,,think of those who only depend on thm self they nt geting financial suport frm their dear ones and near ones as al of u called ”youth”,thinj abt those persons dont b selfish, there are stil lots of job for right candidat,,plz make urself at that level,,,dont blame on govrment,,i m with ths decision, plz increas the ritirment age..

  7. narasimha says:

Good decision to increase the retirement age to 62

  8. s.k.raoufuddin says:

increase in c.g.employees retiredment age from 60 to 62 years will give benefits to many families i.e. higher education of childrens ,a own house for family (a basic need) by earning 2 years extra service.where as the educated unemployment issue ,stil there is no surity bulk recruitment chance by govt.even if increase in retiredment age going to stop.capable educated youth having in mnc,s also.self employement also asolution for it.excuse me ,we are also want see our childrens as employee /earner but at present situations are different.

  9. krrvs sharma says:

though it is appreciable decision, i do not agree with this as most of the senior employees are overburdened due to non recruitment of lower posts in all departments due to ban or some other reasons. And due to this, most of employees are frustrated with present situation and wants to get rid off on superannuation at the earliest

  10. IT IS THE BIGGEST N THE GREATEST NEWS IF IT COMES AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE

GOVERNMENT WILL GET THE MORE BENEFIT AS WELL AS THE COMMON PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY’

THIS IS THE TRUMP CARD FOR THIS GOVERNMENT

  11. Khurram javed says:

My father is retiring in 30 June or 1 July, would he be benifited??

  12. sanjeev says:

Yes,retirement age should made to 62 or more atleast till 65 because many are eager to work more rather than sitting in home idle after retirement.i strongly recommend that it should have hike, support my view and tell the authority about it

  13. General health condition of average Indians has improved considerably as a result if the retirement age is increased to atleast 62 the respective organisations will be benefited of the vast experience they have.
